The DC-10's inherited from B-Cal were named after Forests. (I always wondered where Forest of Ae was and, thanks to Google, I know now!)
The naming of aircraft was a great tradition and I'm sure inspired many a US tourist to visit the "City of Oxford" or "Sherwood Forest" or to go and see the "River Parrott." I hope that, one day, the tradition may return. How about modern day worthies who have contributed greatly to Britain's life and times - "Sir Clive Sinclair" (creative and imaginative inventor extraordinaire!), "Sir Gulam Noon" (the man who brought "curry in a hurry" to Britain in packaged Indian meals), "Simon Weston" the returning Falklands War hero with the horrific burns who with his cheerful optimism and sheer guts was inspirational!
