Not sure BA want to put you on AA if they can possibly avoid it .. AA will certainly charge BA full-fare and right now, with massive compo claims coming through and the very real possibility of crew going on strike again in May, BA will not shell out to get you back asap if they can possibly avoid it; an extra night in the hotel will almost certainly cost them less.
