Don't know that I agree. The car will come with liability.

The credit card and CDW that the agency will sell you will cover the car that is being rented for physical damage to the car itself. Not really that important. You could just be responsible for the full value of the car. As long as you can accept that it makes sense.

I pay about $1 a day for collision on my personal car. The agency wants to charge you twenty times that. If my car cost $700 a year for collision only I'd drop that too. Makes more sense to just pay for any damage that might occur. It seems perfectly rational and probably sensible to make that same decision here.

Do understand this is not liability we are talking about. This is not going to cover bodily injury or even another car. All the insurance is going to do is cover a few hundred for a fender bender or maybe 15-20K if the car is totalled If you can accept that responsibility its prudent.
