International, Infant in Seat is same price as child ticket?

I was getting ready to book a ticket, MVD-BOS/JFK to visit family and i wanted to know, what the diference is between flying with our 3 month old on our lap vs with he own seat.

Despite all the documented rules saying, infant in lap is %10, and child in a seat costing %75 of the fare. When AA.com looks it up, they cost exactly the same.

Adult ticket, AI, $1270. Child with seat $1072. Infant in lap, NO SEAT $1072.

Right now TACA, admittedly a less than ideal experience, is running similar flights for $700 AI per seat.

I find the way AA treats infant in lap tickets to be a complete scam. At the very least they should state, infants require a seat. How many people fly infant in lap, not knowing a seat would cost the SAME amount? It's dishonest.
