The Ren downtown is close to the Chinatown area, but that hotel tends to be more business like. The Metro Center Mar is more centrally located to the sites and very close to the subway. The Mayflower is an old historic hotel, but not really my type. It is close to the Red line train. I have not stayed at the Ren Dupont, but it is suppose to be nice.
Well, both hotels are right near metros. The Metro Center Marriott is closest to Metro Center, which gives you access to the Red, Blue and Orange lines. The Renaissance is about equidistant (perhaps a bit closer) to the Gallery Place station which houses the Red, Yellow and Green lines.
Chinatown (virtually non-existent now) is smack in the middle of Penn Quarter and also the Gallery Place station. It is a VERY active neighborhood. Metro Center is more of a business district, but is on the far western edge of Penn Quarter. Some activity at night, but not as much as Penn Quarter. Amazingly, the distance between "Chinatown" and Metro Center is about 5 blocks.
Either location is fine....
