I'll add my vote for The View - the rooms are basic, but the view is what you're there for. Also, you are contributing to the success of a Navajo-owned venture that employs local Navajo as well.
The cuisine is hearty and tasty (especially the frybread), and although Tripadvisor reviews were spotty, we found the service at the hotel warm and welcoming.
You'll be the first on the Valley drive in the morning to see the sunrise and among the last to see the setting sun light up the rocks.
Rates are seasonal - we were there between Christmas and New Years and their rates were comparable to any motel chain even for a 3rd floor room. In summer, the difference will be higher.
