Hilton is most convenient, as it is connected by walkway to T4, but the rooms are on the small side, restaurant (menu and buffet) good for family. From T1, T2 or T3 the Heathrow Express train is free to T4.

All others require using the Hotel Hoppa shuttle bus at 2.50 pounds per person each way - for four thats 20 pounds round trip.

My favorite is Sheraton Skyline, not sure the restaurant is the best for children.

Marriott is also nice, good family restaurant.
