The scenario mentioned by GoldCircle is exactly what seems to happen. I had a similar issue trying to use some CO miles as an alternative to the DC account and had the same lack of availability.

It would appear that LH open up inventory for a couple of days to M&M and it is visible via ANA. It then seems to become visible to *A partners at about the 48 hour mark.
