I agree. But my DM# was in the reservation, purple 'preferred' seats were available to me and I was seated in the exit rows prior to the upgrade. So at least one part of the system recognized my GP status. Just not any upgrade machine. FWIW, it's a MR PHX-CLT-RIC-PHL-PHX. One transcon at 05:40 and the return at 20:35, so take that into account for anyone keeping timing statistics on upgrades.
