I am lining up for my very first trip on EK and have a choice of flying MEL-DXB on either the B777-300ER or A340-500. Trip will be in biz class.
The B777 flight stops in SIN but the A345 is direct, or via KL.
I have heard that the seats on the A345 are inferior to the B777ER, so it is worth taking the longer route via SIN?
Is the difference in product that significant? The direct flight is obviously a long one so seat comfort for sleeping is important.

Yes, big difference in product. The seats on the 345 don't go flat, the ones on the 77W are lie flat. Definitely worth going via SIN - may be slightly longer, but more comfortable. The individual flights are long enough for you go get uninterrupted sleep for 6 hours, and then maybe shower at the SIN lounge and enjoy the rest of your flight.
