dko3tgk, you could simply attach a little strap compass of your choosing to the GW-2500. These things cost less than $20 and I would trust them somehow more than the compass in a watch. That said, I got my mother a Casio PAW1300 watch with a compass and it seems to be rather spot on. I didn't buy it because of the ABC features but because it has really big digits, is rugged and involves zero maintenance. She actually uses it. I'm very glad about that.
For Sears you can combine both the codes I gave for $35 off. Really nice deal. The next best deal is $159 at nywatchstore.com. I have bought three watches from them. Reliable and about the cheapest G-Shock site on the net.
The Seiko is a little bit harder to get. You have to go through Seiya, Chino Watches or Higuchi Watches. Chino is cheapest I think. I got mine from Seiya. Had it within four days. Incredible.
If you don't like the rubber strap on the GW-2500 you can put the metal bracelet from the GB-2000 on it. It is available for 45UK$ at tiktox in England. Much cheaper than getting it from Casio in the US. Or you can fit the PAW1300G endpieces (those are strap adapters) and use it with a nylon strap from Maratac. Plenty of options!
For a cheap thrill the AW-80 is hard to beat. Casio now also has the AE-1000 world-time watch out. I saw it at Sears. $30. Looks cheapish but functions are good. Still a metal AW-80 is certainly preferable.
