My $0.02.

As a religious person, I find Alaska's practice problematic (I decline meal service the few times a year I fly them for this and other reasons.) You see, my religion teaches me not to take the name of G-d vain or to destroy His name, in any language. To summarize Jewish law on this matter:
It is forbidden to destroy the written name of G-d, whether it is written in Hebrew or any other language. Furthermore, it is forbidden to cause the written name of G-d to be destroyed or defaced by placing it in a place where it will be destroyed by others. This rule also applies to any words of Torah, such as a sefer (Torah book). Therefore, a sefer which is no longer usable, or any paper or pamphlet which contains word of Torah (commonly known as “Shaimos”), must be buried. Most cities have an organization, or burial society, which for a small fee will respectfully bury these holy objects.
Now, I don't know what these (presumably) Chr-stians believe, but I guess they're OK putting G-d's name and word (or false word, in the case of a Chr-stian bible quote) on thousands of pieces of paper daily and throwing them out with the trash. To me, that's disrespectful, but we're lucky to live in a nation where we're free to have any opinion about G-d, even disrespectful ones.
