While it is unfortunate that they choose to cancel SEA-CUN its within their right to do so (as long as they stopped taking bookings before making the decision). But they have an affirmative obligation to take reasonable actions to minimize the harm imposed by this decision and I'm of the opinion that would include, at a minimum, preparations and staff sufficient to rebook passengers in a timely manner.
And of course offering passengers the best available routing, regardless of carrier.
Personally, I'd call them and then politely but firmly insist on what you'd prefer.
Also, this pretty much means you'll never be able to get to CUN as an AS award except during low season (since AS will only have access to the cheap saver inventory for DL/AA). Pity.
