OP, the options are to get a voucher on AA for $(original a/i fare - 250) and buy on delta. In the end you are saving $156 as pointed above. But you will have bought two tickets essentially. If your gf is planning to use that money to fly on AA within the next 12 months, then its a savings. Else, her call.
How far in advance did she book? Usually its not a good idea to book too far in advance.
