When I purchase something that is non-refundable, I usually do LOTS of research to get the best price. I watch and wait, watch and wait and buy when I believe I have a good deal. Then, after I make the purchase, I NEVER go back and look, just makes me feel badly if I see the price go down.

If you don't think that she will use the AA future travel in the next 12 months, just accept that you learned a very valuable travel lesson and move on.
