A very interesting book about hidden fees, sneaky fine print, misrepresentation of costs, etc. is Gotcha Capitalism: How Hidden Fees Rip You Off Every Day-and What You Can Do About It by Bob Sullivan. Though it's a general treatment of the subject, it (unsurprisingly) includes a lot of information about such practices in the travel industry.
Do we really need a whole book to spot this? Perhaps, but I would hit some websites before wasting hours reading a book to tell me not to be a dumb...
