I have searched the existing posts on the above, however i wanted to check my understanding of what i have found is correct with regard to flying with BA.
My IPhone must be off completely during take off and landing. However when seat belt sign is off, my IPhone can be on with Airplane Mode switched on - although need to activate airplane mode before switching it off for take off.
If someone can confirm that is correct, that would be great.

Yes, that's correct.
All electronic devices must be switched off for take off and landing. Devices in flight safe mode can be used during cruise.
However, the standard announcement to this effect on BA is poorly phrased. You are told to place devices with flight-safe mode capability into that mode during the safety annoucnement, but it's not clear that you then need to actually turn those devices off.
I would like to see the announcement both video and verbally state clearly that:
- All electronic devices (including mobile phones) must be switched off for take off and landing.
- If your mobile phone has a flight-safe mode, this must be enabled now and then the phone must be completely switched off.
