While on that note, that's the only way to even get an interview these days: to know someone. Otherwise, your resume is 1 of X resumes submitted for a position with company X online. Actually, you are right on the money. Networking is essential to successfully finding a good job. It's not the only way, but having someone vouch for you goes a long way and gets you the interview. The rest is up to you.
