Note, however, AA is the only carrier who has this policy. Yes, I am glad to have not lost the miles in hubby's account, even OK with the $50 fee; however, I think it is rather untoward to offer condolences, state ease of transaction, and then ask for money. It does not erase the sting in my opinion; it simply makes AA look foolish and insincere. It is no different really than saying " we are pleased to have allowed one carry on for storage in the overhead" and then stating - oh yes, btw, there is a $100 fee to do so.
