We actually are back already - and had no issues (as expected) but it's good to know that we were in fact legal! My kids were somewhat distraught (despite repeated advance warnings from Dad) that about half our cabs lacked rear seatbelts, but they dealt with it.
Yes, I know the speed limit and I still speed. It's very hard for me to drive within the speed limit in the States. I don't race though.

I assume you read Chinese? Couldn't find any links in English. But with the translation tools, you at least get the headsup about the Taiwanese laws.

If it were the 1st trip for your kids to Taipei, it must almost feel like riding a roller coast for your kids when sitting in the back seat in taxi. By US standards, most taxi drivers fall into the categories of "reckless driving" in Taipei. I would call it "survivor skills." You won't believe how many "mission impossible" our local cab drivers are capable of.

Just sit tight and enjoy the ride. You are 100% in good hands. Really!
