This thread is closing in on 4 years old, and we still haven't managed to put this Beijing scam to bed. Oy!

I feel a bit put out, as on the multiple occasions when I've been in a devilish mood and tried to wander the area around Tiananmen in hope of attracting some scammers that I can play with (er...play up and trap), I'm never successful at getting anybody to approach me. What are your secrets? I've tried white tennis shoes and the camera bag approach, but not yet escalated to the Hawaiian shirt.
