Transferring mileage

I made a post a week or so ago that queried if anyone knew if the airlines would credit my deceased husband's frequent flyer miles to my account (did not want to ask them - if answer were no - I would have probably had to have a ticket issued or lost them).

I am DELIGHTED to report that the carrier that facilitated the transfer with the least amount of hoop jumping and the greatest concern for seeing that it was done quickly was DELTA SKYMILES - yes - DELTA

USAir was also helpful - one more hoop and it will be done. Understandable because everything had to be done snail mail.

AMERICAN - well, to quote from their Email to me:

"On behalf of American Airlines, let me express our sincere condolences on your loss. During this difficult time, we will do our utmost to assist you.

The mileage remaining in this account may be transferred to one or more accounts of beneficiaries. Please follow these steps:

1. Print out the attached affidavit, fill in the required information and sign the affidavit (notarized signature is not required).

2. FAX the following to us at (817) 963-7882:

· The signed affidavit

· A photocopy of the Death Certificate (need not be a certified copy)

· Payment of the $50 administrative charge (payable only by credit card or by debit card with VISA or MC logo)

End quote

Ah well, charges for this, charges for that, and charges for condolences and utmost assistance.
