Only problems I had were also with the gate readers. Outbound, the GA put the card in the wrong orientation twice which I finally corrected. Inbound, it wasn't working so the GA had me go back for a boarding pass. Luckily the GA there only took a few seconds to issue me a boarding pass, and then escorted me to the front of the boarding line.
