In any negotiation situation, it is important to adopt a "glass half full" attitude. From your point of view, you got a J seat, plus extra status miles when you only were expecting a Y seat with base mileage. I'd say you came out ok

Yes, you might have gotten a voucher in addition to all this if you had been IDB'ed, but it would have been awful if the agent said that the oversell had been taken care of while you were still holding your Y boarding pass.
