I've seen business over booked from JFK to LHR and they were offering very generous incentives. Because JFK has so many flights to London it was easy to rebook people on the next flight (which often left only an hour later). If I remember correctly they were offering people a first class seat on the next flight and several thousand dollars. Not a bad deal at all. If I wasn't in coach I would have jumped on it!
