Traveling with green card in married name and passport in maiden name.
Hello everyone,
I hope someone can help me with this question. I have tried to find the answer everywhere and i get all mixed answers.
My wife needs to travel to Romania next month. Chicago-Muhich, Munich-Romania is the route. She is NOT a US citizen just yet, just a permanent resident WITH a green card.
She has
1. Green card with her MARRIED name. (my last name).
2. Romanian Passport with her MAIDEN name. (her old last name).
3. Marriage certificate. (her old last name, my last name).
It would take us about 3 months to get her Romanian passport updated to her new name, so that is out of the question. We looked at the option to have a travel document from uscis, but it takes 3 months to get that as well.
So here are my three questions:
1. Is it possible to have her tickets purchased on her OLD name, and have her travel over to romania and back with that passport, and enter the US with the 3 documents listed above? (Also, is she allowed to switch planes on her way back in Germany, Munich just with the passport, or with the 3 documents above?)
2. Is it possible to buy round trip tickets under BOTH names? I.e. FirstName MaidenLastName MarriedLastName? Or maybe have the return ticket in her married name, and other one in her maiden name? (Buying 2 tickets is out of the question, since one is $900 by itself - $1800 for both, and a round trip is $1100).
3. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to do this? I'm open to anything, as long as she can leave and come back without problems!
Thanks everyone for your help in advance!
