This is precisely the issue at play here. Some hotels are excellent about communication, while others (a great many) exhibit little interest in this area.

I've found overseas concierges invaluable to my planning and e-mail is, of course, the way to go!

OTOH, a great many folks here on FT have stated over the years that they try to e-mail every hotel in advance of their stays to request upgrades, suites, etc, etc, etc. If I were the GM or the owner of a hotel and seeing scads of these sorts of e-mails coming through week after week, I'd be disinclined to broadcast my e-mail, too.

I'm not suggesting that is what the OP intends to do at all, but I do know that published e-mails would, apparently, be used by lots of folks for that very purpose.

If hotels publish their e-mails and have capable staff ready to respond, then members of the SPG program should be courteous enough to play by the T&C of the program and not e-mail in advance asking that the rules be bent for their advantage.

Just sayin.
