Often it is the individual willing to stand up for his rights who preserves those rights for all of us. Where preserving some rights is too much effort for most of us, I applaud the OP for his actions. I question his indication that his style did not complicate matters more than they otherwise would be and suggest even if style does not affect outcome, one should always be polite and civil.
