Boarding Pass Information

Dear All,

As you may know, on the SQ boarding pass, it shows your membership details, example: "SQ*S ES 809XXXXXXX"

From my understanding, it should read like this:
SQ*S => SingaporeAir Star Alliance Silver Status
ES => Elite Silver
809...=> Membership number

Is the above translation correct??

If above is correct, then I have a question... I recently had been upgraded to be Elite Gold, but my boarding pass read as: "SQ*S EG 809XXXXXXX".
If I am Elite Gold, why am I still "SQ*S"? (Shouldn't it be SQ*G..??)

Can anyone clarify the above please?

Thanks in advance!!!
