I don't feel crippled and I don't even have a data plan. I'm perfectly happy with my iphone on it's ~ $8 per month pre-paid plan with t-mobile. (And no, I make no claim that my plan will work for anybody else around here.)

I'm guessing you mean 2g vs 3g? That's crippling? Not to me.
