Where the clubs come out depends on which airport you are on. You can lock them if you have a TSA standard lock. Otherwise it will be broken open.

I wouldn't be too concerned if you can't though. I'd say I've flown more than 800,000 miles with golf clubs and I've never locked them and using a Club Glove I've never had any damage. 75% of those miles were on Delta.
