Seems that the original poster encountered ignorant gate agents and (in another thread) other passengers with DYKWIA self-entitlement and/or dress code snobbiness, rather than economy passengers. Said gate agents and other passengers may have made the assumption (based on youth and dressed down state) that the original poster is an ignorant "kettle", rather than a genuine top level elite frequent flyer with a first class ticket who is stereotypically an older man, according to comments in another thread comparing economy and premium class passengers.
