AA uses 4 different buckets for First class - F for paid first class or any time awards, A for upgrades using miles or discounted first class fares, Z for first class using miles only, and X for sticker upgrades. If you have sabre access you can see the advantage buckets by adding -ADV to the end of your availability entry.
