The reason why I'm asking is because I could renew my T contract, and get a new iphone the "regular" way, but that would entail paying off some charges that I sincerely and rigthly dispute. Since T is being unreasonable, I am choosing to be unreasonable as well.
But I want an iphone again so bad!

Yes - if you start a new plan with T-Mobile without a phone, you are not bound by a contract.
Just keep in mind that not paying current charges probably means you won't be able to activate any new lines of service.
