I flew on MS last year NBO-CAI.. One of the most miserable and frightening experiences I've ever had flying on a commercial aircraft. Booked in C and *A Gold. Last minute aircraft swap from 737-800 to A321. Major downgrade in seats with that swap. However someone screwed up the fuel paperwork. After several hours delay sitting on the plane at the gate, they made us get off while the pilot revved up the engines at a fairly high speed. The dust and sand behind the plane really kicked up a storm! Apparently, with all 181 passengers, crew, and bags, they put way too much fuel on the plane and it was too heavy to take off. So, he just sat there burning the fuel while revving the engines. The jetbridge was shaking and the entire terminal area was vibrating wildly. Finally we did re-board and take off, but we followed a bizarre path from Cairo to Luxor to Abu Simbel to Khartoum to Addis Ababa to Nairobi. All just in case we needed fuel, we could quickly land and fill up before continuing. We didn't need to stop, but when we deplaned, I overheard one of the pilots mention to the NBO station manager that they had landed the plane on fumes.
