I wrote in to comment on a Comair FA before the comment cards were sent out but after the merger and was thanked by the tune of a $75 ECV!! I wouldn't go as far to say that would be expected but was a great treat nonetheless!
Just a simple acknowledgment is enough for me to know the time was warranted.
