If, when you applied, you read the terms and conditions for this offer you would have seen the annual fee was NOT waived for the first year (as it sometimes is on other credit cards).
As far as I know, this 32 credits offer is a special targeted offer available only to those who received the e-mail (or, maybe, also sent out in snail mail).

Thanks for the reasonable response. It amuses me that some people LEAPED to the defense of the credit card company as if I was trying to steal food from a homeless person. Most (all?) credit card companies will bend you over a barrel in a second if they can and point to the 47 pages of fine print as justification for doing so. I was just asking what the rules are in regards to cancellation. If they worked in a way that allowed me to cancel, I'd have no problem doing so. If not, no big deal.
