Don't think I'd recommend Nassau. The restaurants there were not outstanding, in my opinion and A LOT of the infrastructure there is centered around the incredibly touristy Paradise Island. Have you considered Curacao? Great food, infrastructure, less crowded, gorgeous beaches.

Only thing is, the further south you go in August, the truly hotter than hell it will be. I might even consider North Carolina that time of year, if only for the cooler weather.
