What Moral Obligation Does One Have to Notify CO of a Mistake it Makes?
Purely hypothetically speaking, let’s say CO (who is wont to make mistakes in its own favor) makes a grievous error that instead of benefiting itself, benefits the traveler for a change. And further suppose this is not a minor mistake but a colossal one!—though NOT a FINANCIAL mistake, mind you. No money or miles are involved. My hypothetical question is:
What moral obligation does this person have to notify CO of its mistake?
Before you offer advice, please don’t assume this serendipitously benefitting traveler is merely your ordinary middleclass man about town. Instead, suppose this hypothetical person is a scoundrel of the highest (lowest?) order, being utterly amoral, a cad and reprobate, a deeply disturbed sociopath whose malevolence knows no bounds, a being without the slightest regard for anyone but himself, evil incarnate, and who by the wildest quirk of luck just happens to be very handsome, intelligent and have a statuesque wife. What obligation would THAT person have?
No obligation whatsoever, you say? Good. That’s just what I thought. ^
