As others have mentioned, flying can be a hassle and time-wise you have at least 2 - 3 hours of stuff on top of gate>gate time. Flying has to save me at least a couple of hours over driving or train to be worth it. In Europe I've often taken trains that took 3 hrs longer since they're more relaxing, better air quality, roomier, easier to move around in, and allow me to spend the entire time camped in a seat with a table to work at instead of waiting in security lines, waiting at gates, cramped in a seat (even in FC).
