That happened to me also at a Connecticut Stop & Shop and I asked if the person on the other scanned card was going to pay for my groceries. The clerk smiled and said "No". I requested again that she scan my card and she refused. So I just left all the groceries, walked over to the checkout manager and told her what happen and left the store. Took my business somewhere else. I wasn't going to stand in some courtesy line with my perishables to address a problem that never should have been.
