Aren't you able to contact the base directly? Or perhaps find a "sponsor" to kind of mentor you in what to expect when you move there, etc?

I lived in Okinawa for 6 years, and will be visiting Yokota for a few weeks this summer. I am here trying to figure out what to do while we are there.

Here is some interesting info on Yokota, which sounds like is where you may be stationed as that is about 90 minutes or so from Tokyo, even longer if traffic is bad.
