That's just too much extra travelling time for many people. If I had the time and inclination to visit both South and North America on the same trip then it's a good suggestion, but if I only have time for, say, a 10-day vacation in Brazil, then going via MIA is pretty painful and not what I would call a premium travel experience even if at the front of the plane.
