An interesting follow-up to my original post here - I just had a long chat with the director of rooms at Al Qasr, who had tracked me down from my tripadvisor review (which is basically a revised version of what I posted here). If the staff had been so pro-active at the time it would have been a great improvement! I also have his e-mail details for finalising details of future trips.
