What you say may be true about the inconsistent treatment of Diamonds at the Hyatt Maui. However, I know that the Westin Maui has also been known not to roll out the red carpet for their Starwood Preffered elites.

My brother in law is a Starwood Prefferred Platinum Elite and was not even given a one room category upgrade at the Westin Maui. They said they were "booked solid" and there was nothing they could or would do.

I also experienced this at the Maui Marriott Ocean Club...I have been a Marriott Platinum for 8 years and when I stayed there last year was given no upgrade at all.

So I think when it comes to their resort properties...there is inconsistency at Hyatt, Starwood, and Marriott.

But in Maui, The Hyatt is the darling of Kaanapali beach.

That is why I am staying there in June....been to the Westin, Marriott Ocean Club, and Sheraton....all very good...but the Hyatt is the best.
