Just a guess, but I think AA is very concerned about passenger allergies to peanuts.

I was on a ORD-HNL flight in F a few years ago and the pax next to me casually asked the FA, after receiving the menu prior to departure, if a certain entree had any peanuts in it (which none of them do). Well, that question resulted in a call to the GA and a resulting decision by someone (purser, GA, captain, someone else?) that the usual "warm mixed nuts" (which don't have peanuts) served during drinks would not be served at all in F to anyone. The pax who asked the original question tried to convince the purser that that was not necessary and ended up apologizing to those around him for having their nuts denied them.
