1985 - Flew DTW - ATL - Fort Myers - ATL - DTW.
I remember my first trip on Delta -- got voluntarily bumped on my first flight out of Detroit! At the time, Delta flew the L1011 into Detroit from Atlanta.
Great start flying Delta. Back then, compensation was a free round trip continental US ticket. Later that year, I flew rt from DTW to LAX through CVG with my free ticket. Back then, Delta upgraded bump ticket holders to First class when you used your compensation. And back then, they actually had open first class seats! What a concept.
The flight from CVG to LAX was a 767-200. They were quite new and modern at that time.
