My suggestions:

1. Consider booking a cheap ticket to Washington or NYC and then flying to Europe from there, and/or
2. Consider flying into a larger airport (preferably a hub like Munich) and taking a train to Graz (train travel is fun, doesn't usually take any more time than an additional connecting flight, and is pretty cheap), and/or
3. Consider flexibility in travel dates, and/or
4. Consider booking an open jaw ticket, and/or
5. Consider waiting a little while longer before booking your ticket

When I do those things I never pay more than $750 for a summer ticket (and those are the priciest) to Europe. With this economy it is more like $600-$650.
