I noticed this the other day as well. Non-elite companion waitlisted for mileage upgrade on a flight -- on my itinerary it showed "1 seat available" for a mileage upgrade but he hadn't cleared yet. I had to call in and get it taken care of. Who knows whether we jumped the queue or not.

CO should really address these apparent delays in processing the waitlist.
