I specifically chose a seat near the front because I figured the cabin would be full of SEs and I didn't want to be near the back and not get a choice. I was surprised when I was asked for my choice in seating position order. Afaict everyone was asked from front to back in our aisle and then front to back in the other aisle.

Either there were no SEs on the plane, or they had enough meals to be confident they wouldn't run out.
